Visiting Jackson Hole

Welcome to Jackson, Wyoming.

Mike Doyle

If you have never been to Jackson Hole and plan on flying in for a ski vacation, take some time and figure ahead for transportation needs.

Jackson Hole, while the moniker for Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, is itself, a big, long valley. Logistically, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and the slopeside Teton Village are 12.5 miles from the Town of Jackson and the Jackson Hole Airport is 9 miles outside of town. Hotels in Teton Village include the Teton Mountain Lodge and Spa and the Hotel Terra.

Check to see if the hotel where you have arranged lodging offers an airport shuttle, if not you are looking at either renting a car or hiring a commercial transport service.

If you can, you will save a lot of time if you rent a car. It doesn't have to be a 4 wheeler unless you are planning a side trip of driving to Grand Targhee. The local roads are flat and well maintained but if you stay at Teton Village you will want to shop, dine around and/or check out the Town of Jackson.
