There was a time when you took ski resort conditions reports with a grain of salt and your drive to the mountains was a crap shoot for finding snow or not. However, now there are mountain reporting services you can really trust to give you an accurate up to the minute snapshot of resort snow conditions and number of trails open. The one that has been around since 1968 and has made the ski resorts look at themselves honestly on a daily basis is SnoCountry Mountain Reports.

SnoCountry Mountain Reports

SnoCountry Mountain Reports is the largest snow conditions reporting service in the world and provides information on resorts to newspapers, radio, internet and television. SnoCountry reports are used by such bastions of media integrity as the New York Times, Associated Press and the Weather Channel. Not to mention the 'on air' SnoCountry radio network on over 850 AM/FM stations across the country plus Satellite radio.

According to SnoCountry Program Director, Andy Davis, when skiing started to get really pricey back in the 80’s and 90’s and more areas opened, skiers and boarders became much more discerning. They wanted the best bang for all the bucks they were laying out and resorts began to police their own reports. I’m sure the snow reporting clinics SnoCountry Mountain Reports offered at ski industry meetings went a long way to clearing the mirror for resorts to accurately see themselves.

During high season, SnoCountry reports on over 900 resorts and sends out localized day area reports to regional markets along with the conditions at the major destination areas.
