Aspen Course Gets Go-Ahead
11/22/09 -The International Ski Federation Saturday confirmed the Aspen Winternational Audi FIS World Cup for next weekend, after a favorable on-course snow inspection Thursday on Aspen Mountain. Up to two feet of new snow also fell on the Aspen resort region over the weekend. The women's giant slalom is set for Saturday, Nov. 28 with the slalom on Sunday, Nov. 29. NBC, Universal Sports and Versus will broadcast the races from Aspen.
Freeman, Randall Lead U.S. in Opener
11/21/09 - The U.S. Cross Country Ski Team kicked off the 2010 Olympic season in Norway Saturday with Kikkan Randall and Kris Freeman leading the way for the U.S., finishing 21st and 22nd, respectively.
Stiegler Out For Season
11/20/09 - U.S. Ski Team athlete Resi Stiegler will be out for the season as a result of an injury in giant slalom training Thursday at Copper Mountain, CO. According to U.S. Ski Team Medical Director Richard Quincy, Stiegler suffered a serious complex injury to her left leg, which will keep her out for the rest of the season.
Audi Announces U.S. Ski Team Film
11/18/09 - As part of its continued support of the U.S. Ski Team, Audi of America has commissioned a documentary film, Truth in Motion: The U.S. Ski Team’s Road to Vancouver, which will tell the unique stories of these elite American athletes as they prepare for the competition of their lives – the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. It will air first January 30 at 8pm EST on NBC, then on USA Network on February 6 at 5pm EST.
Fans Can Design Vonn's Olympic Helmet
11/18/09 - Fans will have a chance to design the Olympic helmet of World Champion Lindsey Vonn. NBCOlympics.com invites fans to participate in the “Design Lindsey’s Helmet” contest, beginning November 23. Vonn is challenging fans to convince her that their artwork is what she wants to feature on her helmet while soaring down the slopes during the upcoming 2010 Vancouver Winter Games.

Randall Just Shy of Podium in Norway
11/15/09 - The U.S. Cross Country Team wrapped up three days of pre World Cup racing Sunday with even more unexpected success as World Championship silver medalist Kikkan Randall took fourth and Kris Freeman fifth in the women's 5K and men's 10K classic FIS races in Norway.
Ligety Tops U.S. in Levi Slalom
11/15/09 - Olympic combined champion Ted Ligety led the U.S. Ski Team in 18th followed directly by Jimmy Cochran in the first slalom of the Audi FIS Alpine World Cup season. Austrian Reinfried Herbst won for the sixth slalom victory of his career as Bode Miller returned to World Cup racing, yet did not finish the second run.
Freeman Shines in Norway
11/14/09 - The U.S. Cross Country Ski Team is a leg up on the competition scene after competing in two days of FIS races in Norway where Kikkan Randall, Kris Freeman, Liz Stephen and Morgan Arritola have all had great early season results.
Vonn 2nd, .08 Shy of Levi Win
11/14/09 - It didn't take long for double World Champion Lindsey Vonn to find her way back to the Audi FIS Alpine World Cup podium as the two-time overall winner finished second to friend and reigning World Cup slalom champion Maria Riesch of Germany Saturday.
Athletes Set For Aspen Winternational
11/12/09 - Thanksgiving weekend again brings the world's best alpine ski racers back to the Rocky Mountains for the Aspen Winternational, the first stop of the U.S. swing for the women's Audi FIS Alpine World Cup. The weekend promises excitement as Vancouver Bound athletes look for victory in GS and slalom on Aspen's Strawpile racing slope.
U.S. Skiers Finding Form at Breckenridge
11/11/09 - With the U.S. Freestyle Ski Team moguls athletes waiting for the bumps to build in nearby mountains, they are busy looking to find their form at the Breckenridge Recreation Center. This world-class center, once a temporary a solution for the weather, has become the site for an annual training camp out at Breckenridge.
Miller, Ligety Set for Levi Slalom
10/24/09 - Following solid training blocks in Switzerland, Austria, Germany and now Tarnaby, Sweden, two-time Audi FIS Alpine World Cup overall champion Bode Miller is set to open his World Cup season this weekend along side Soelden podium finisher Ted Ligety when World Cup action returns to Levi, Finland.
Vonn Shoots for Levi Rewind
11/11/09 - A year ago, two-time Audi FIS Alpine World Cup overall champion Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO) notched her career first slalom win in Levi, Finland renewing the World Champion as a slalom contender. A year and three more World Cup titles later and Vonn is hoping to do it again.
Bloom Announces Retirement From Skiing
11/11/09 - Jeremy Bloom, one of the most decorated freestyle skiers in United States history and a two sport athlete who also played in the National Football League, today announced his official retirement from competitive skiing. Bloom was preparing to compete in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, but has decided to forgo training and competition to concentrate on his broadcasting, business and philanthropy endeavors fulltime.
U.S. Ski Team Shares Quality Time with PCA
11/11/09 - Members of the U.S. Ski Team took advantage of an invitation to visit the Park City Academy to share their sport as well as personal stories and feelings about the upcoming Olympic Games. The students were thrilled to have the chance to interact directly with world-class athletes and learn a couple secret tricks of the trade.
Ski Hall Of Fame Names Inductees
11/06/09 -Paralympic champions Chris Waddell and Sarah Will highlight a group of eight athletes and sport builders named for induction to the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame. They are joined by adaptive skiing pioneer Jack Benedick, legendary big mountain skier Doug Coombs, noted industry writer and instructor Stu Campbell, veteran ski jumping champion Ansten Samuelstuen, the father of southern skiing Sepp Kober and longtime U.S. Ski Team press officer and journalist Paul Robbins.
