Atomic has embraced the 'Rocker Revolution' and developed three shape variations, Powder Rocker, Adaptive Rocker or Active Camber, each relative to terrain and snow conditions.
The Powder Rocker, obviously named for skiing fresh powder where lift and float is the name of the game, combines a classic camber underfoot and adds a pronounced Rocker Shape at the ski tip.
For the all-mountain lineup of 2011-12 skis Atomic incorporates the Adaptive Rocker. This feature allows the ski to use the full contact edge length when turned on edge, and the slight rise built into the tip means tips push up when the ski is weighted under down-pressure. So, because the tip lifts slightly, the ski turns easily, does not edge and delivers lift in soft snow.
Atomic's Active Camber is just the classic camber that works great on the harder and packed powder snow of groomed slopes.
Here's what Atomic says about their 2011-2012 skis:
"On the groomers. In blower powder. At the X Games. On the World Cup. At tiny day areas. On massive AK peaks. Wherever you find skiers, you will find the highest quality equipment from ATOMIC. Our secret: we develop tailor made skiing equipment for every level of skier. Which makes skiing even simpler and more enjoyable and success so much easier to achieve!
Atomic's new 2011-12 line of skis will help you raise the bar in terms of performance, enjoyment and fun for racers and beginners, freeskiers and all-rounders. Each of our products is more than just the sum of its parts, they embody ATOMIC's passion, progression and ambition for skiing."

D2 VF 82 - Groomer Ski
The D2 VF 82 is an intermediate/advanced ski in the classic piste shape of narrow underfoot for more natural carving, thus the '82' in the name. However this ski incorporates the Atomic unique Doubledeck construction, in effect comprising two individual skis. The lower, on snow'deck' provides the edging while the 'upper' deck distributes tpower generated by the skier. The 2 deck construction eliminates vibration and allows full edge contact and smoth turns on both hard packed and softer groomed slopes.
