Jack Hay of Alpine Sport Shop in Saratoga Springs, New York led me to the service center where his head Service Tech Dan Nizolek was ready to do a pre-season tune-up on a sleepy pair of Rossignol skis, fresh out of a summer hiatus in their owner’s basement. Both Jack and Dan have been tuning skis and adjusting and setting bindings for over 30 years, so the Rossis were definitely in good hands.

Either Jack or Dan inspects each ski individually before the tune-up, to make sure the ski is in good condition for a tune-up and doesn't need intensive care. Smudges, rusty edges, and small dings such as these skis have can be worked out in the tune-up. Any delaminating or major gouges need to be brought to the attention of the customer to consider, if they want the work done on the ski or would rather look to a new ski instead.

Jack and Dan's Tip: We can do a lot for skis, but someday be prepared to send the old skis to their final resting place far from the slopes.
