After spending a beautiful summer day at Deer Valley, you can certainly see why. Deer Valley in the summertime is full of activities for all ages. There's hiking, mountain biking, scenic chair rides, dining, concerts, and a summer camp for kids.
Riding the Silver Lake Express
At Deer Valley, my wife and I rode the Silver Lake Express chairlift from Snow Park Lodge and then took the Sterling Express chair to the top of Bald Mountain. On top of Bald Mountain without the snow is definitely a different experience - well, actually I did find a resilient snow pile and couldn't resist sitting on it.
The Stein's Way trail sign was about 15' above my head, while in winter I can just about touch it. Where access areas between the chairlift unloading stations are graded out in the snow, now it's all uphill, but the great views of the valley from the overlook and the mountains all around are well worth the short hike.
There is some serious mountain biking from here, but there are more than enough moderate riding trails laid out for everyone to enjoy.
Lunch at the Royal Street Cafe
Hike or ride, but be sure to make your way to the Royal Street Cafe for lunch on the deck. The lunch not only tastes royal, it's beautifully presented. There are a variety of appetizers, and lunch items on the menu, along with daily special.
Deer Valley Summer Adventure Camp
For families, Deer Valley's Summer Adventure Camp offers creative and challenging activities and lots of summer fun for children two months to 12 years of age. Even the little campers were going for a short walk up the mountain.
Music at the Mountain
Deer Valley also hosts the Frontier Bank Community Concert Series in the evenings at the Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater. Picnics are welcome, but the concessions are open and gourmet picnic baskets can be ordered, as well.
