This is a great family resort. If you don't have the time or money
to go to Bachelor or Tahoe I recommend staying in McCloud at the Wren's Nest Vacation home and skiing at Mt. Shasta Ski Park.
Mt. Baldy is a (black) diamond in the rough. It is possible to be on the slopes skiing in an hour from LA, yet it offers the most challenging terrain in the country. During the winter season, genuine powder dumps aren't unheard of, while the snow is otherwise consistently nice area-appropriate snow, soft granular snow.
The 148 trails and 17 lifts
make this a resort of reasonable size and gives plenty of skiing. Designed
for all abilities, Beaver Creek can challenge you on its Grouse Mountain
bumps or let you relax on Strawberry Park's gentle groomers. Beaver Creek is
big on grooming and you can see those piste bashers on the slopes at any
time of day.
