Every skier at one time or another has found themselves in a steep or constricted area where they are uncomfortable in pointing their skis straight down or attempting to cross the fall line in a turn.
It could be a situation where the snow conditions have become a little precarious. Perhaps it iced over or the wind has exposed rocks, or maybe it is just too steep and narrow and you are out of your comfort zone.
One of the best ski areas to perfect and practice controlled sideslipping is Jackson Hole Mountain Resort because you can find all the steep you'll ever need.
On a recent trip to Jackson Hole, JHMR Mountain Sports School Director Brian Maguire skied around with me and demonstrated some do's and don'ts for controlled sideslipping.
