Foot Bed Mapping

Foot Bed Mapping

Michael Doyle, Photo at Surefoot, Killington, VT
Ray, who has 17 years experience doing all kinds of boot work for Surefoot, and orthotic technician Ed Stanley, explained the composition of the foot beds. They looked at my stance and where I took pressure on my ankles. Then it was time to get my feet mapped.

While I was standing on a raised platform Ed set my feet, one at a time, on a metal area full of holes. He adjusted each foot into varying weight on and off positions then flicked some computer keys. The holes began to fill with pegs pushing up from inside the machine. These pins stopped with contact to my foot and created a density map of each foot which was locked into the computer.
