For 2008 - 2009 Tecnica has 6 series, the Dragon, Diablo, Vento, Mega, Agent and Attiva which include over 34 models of ski boots. The Flex number following the model name refers to the flex resistance when bending the ankle, on average 150-120 is stiff, 110-90 is average and 80-50 is soft.
Tecnica Attiva
The Attiva series (buy direct) is geared specifically for the female skier and their Attiva Pro, available in flexes of 100 or 90, will be enough boot for most athletic female skiers desiring performance as much as warmth in an all mountain boot. The 98mm width is know as narrow/medium and will need some alteration for the wider feet while keeping it tight in the ankle pocket. The Attiva Dragon has more bells and options but is not better than the Pro model just less expensive.
Tecnica Diablo
The Men's Series known as Diablo Race Pro or Diablo Pro (buy direct) is a good option for the aggressive level skier that wants quick responsiveness with Tecnica comfort. Diablo (130) for the top-end skier, Diablo (110) all mountain performance and Diablo (100) in a sleek all black color.
Tecnica Vento and Mega
The Vento series (buy direct)is the Tecnica wide option and they are fine for the skier that needs more volume for their calves and forefoot. These boots will be easy on and off and come in flex options of Vento 95, Vento 80 and Vento 70. The Mega series is wider and softer so I find these are for kids or beginners that cannot accept pressure on their feet.
Tecnica Agent
The Agent series (buy direct) is Tecnica's "New School" options with sponsored riders promoting them and a marketing campaign. These are good skiing boots and they have expanded this line to six models this year. The Agent 130 is basically unchanged from the Agent 120 of last year. The Agent 110 and Agent 95 are a better option for most of these skiers because it is critical to be able to flex the boot to get the positions these athletes are trying for. The Agent 85 is available in an even wider fit.
The sleeper here may be the Agent AT with its Vibram sole and walk mode opening up a world of backcountry possibilities. Tecnica has been working with Lowa for years and we have seen a few of these come around so if you are looking for an AT option this might be a good choice.
Tecnica Dragon
The Dragon series is available in Dragon 120 (120), Dragon 110 (110) and the Dragon 100 (100). The name is cool and the colors of these translucent boots are flashy. These boots will ski well and will certainly be warmer.
Tecnica Junior Models
Tecnica has good junior models available for the young racer or all mountain skiers with the Diablo Race Pro 90, Diablo Race Pro 70 and their Diablo Race 60 in Black and White.
