This is a great year for Lange ski boots (buy direct) as they will be riding a wave of excitement from last year.

The new RS series and RX series were extremely well received. The stance corrections they made to help skiers feel more balanced with today's skis have been very positive. Matching a lower ramp angle with a more upright stance allows many skiers to feel more naturally balanced. I was fortunate to ski the RS 140 all last year and was extremely pleased with fit and performance.

Lange now offers the Race or High Performance RS 140, RS 130, RS 110 and The RS 120 SC (short cuff) in the 97 mm tight lasted forefoot. The Short Cuff is directly marketed for good female skiers and junior racers, though many could appreciate this option. The RS 140 has the traditional non-replaceable sole while the rest of the RS series has replaceable soles, which is good. The RS 130 and the RS 110 are also available in a medium 100mm width forefoot.

The Freeski series includes the RX 130 LV and RX 100 LV offering a 97 mm forefoot with the crossover style ski boot. The RX series offers Ultra Grip soles for better traction and a rubber zeppa marketed for airs, park or the backcountry. The RX series is better known for the medium forefoot 100 mm width as seen in the RX 130, RX 120, RX 110 and the RX 100. These are great and powerful skiing boots.

Do you Need a Walk Mode?

The All Mountain Blaster series is wider with a walk mode option that has been proven so far. The Super Blaster (120), Blaster Pro (100), Blaster 90 and Blaster 80 offer Ultra Grip replaceable soles, walk mode and 102 mm width in the forefoot that allow a lot of skiers ease of entry with a very functional good skiing boot.

Lange for the Serious Racer

For the serious racer Lange still offers the World Cup R2006 (160 depending on plastic used), which is a race ski boot at 92mm and is typically custom ordered. These are strictly performance first then grind to fit for that 100th of a second.

Lange Women's Ski Boots

Women have used Lange ski boots to race and have every opportunity to enjoy the RS especially with the Short Cuff RS 120 option and the RS 110. Lange offers women's specific All Mountain boots with the Exclusive series including Ultra Grip replaceable soles a short cuff and either 97mm or 100mm width. The Exclusive RX 100 LV and the Exclusive RX 80 LV are the 97mm narrower options. The Exclusive RX 100, Exclusive RX 90 and Exclusive RX 80 all offer the 100mm wider forefoot with excellent heel and ankle retention. I use the Custom Liner approach so I do not talk about the liner fit often.

Also for the Ladies

The Delight series comes with the walk mode, Ultra Grip replaceable soles and rubber zeppa for backcountry travel or just ease of entry. The 102mm wider forefoot is available in the Delight Super (100), Delight Pro 90, Delight 80 and the Delight 70. The walk mode feature is only available in the Delight 100 and Delight 90 of this series though the rest of the series has many of the other features.

For the Juniors

Lange offers excellent Junior Race boots and good all around junior boots. The RS 110 SC and the RS 90 SC have the new stance in a 97mm width ski boot. Young men or women athletes use the RS 110 SC though the ability to flex is critical for the young skier so the RS 90 SC is a great option. The Race 70 Team is the traditional Lange stance and fit in a 98 mm width for more comfort on the young athlete and the softer flex is good.

The Team series includes other junior boots like the RXJ (70), RSJ 65, RSJ 60, Starlette 60, RSJ 50 and Starlette 50. These are good fitting and skiing options in about 100mm width depending on size.
