Situated on right on the shore, The Lodge at Whitefish Lake has a natural emphasis on things aquatic. The walls of the Lodge and bar area are adorned with blown up photos of on the water activities over the years.
At the entrance to the Boat Club bar and dining area is a mid 1900 wooden speed boat sans motor. This full size one man boat is the actual boat that won a speed boat regatta on the lake and the trophy from that race is behind the bar.
Accommodations and Spa
I stayed in a King Studio suite that included a balcony, desk, sitting area with two chairs, wet bar with microwave, refrigerator, and sink. I was actually surprised by the spaciousness of the room There was no corner cutting to squeeze an extra suite on the floor.
I toured the spa area which is very comfortable, with soft soothing music. The spa menu has a variety of experiences available from the 2 hour Skiers Delight to a romantic 3.5 hour Sweet Retreat for Two.
Fine Dining
The Lodge at Whitefish Lake's Boat Club dining area looks out on the lake with deck dining available in season. The dinner menu features Montana classics such as Cowboy Rib Steak or Montana Buffalo with a selection of seafood and fresh fish.
There is a Boat Club Chips appetizer - fried sweet potatoes with melted blue cheese cream - that was both quite good and quite filling. I did save room for a nicley grilled salmon fillet and rice.
Between the room, the spa, and the good food I could miss a day skiing and pass the day at The Lodge at Whitefish Lake quite contentedly.
However, with all that skiing only a few miles up the road and the SNOW bus stopping at the Lodge I'd feel guilty as a kid skipping school. But, to put mind and body at rest the spa is, of course, available apre-ski.
With Whitefish Lake out one door, Glacier National Park and Whitefish Mountain Resort only a short drive away, The Lodge at Whitefish Lake makes for an excellent year round destination resort lodging.
Whitefish Mountain Resort Summer Fun
The hit of summer at Whitefish Mountain Resort will be an Alpine Zip Line tour and ride. Four separate Zip Lines, each with two parallel cables for dual riding action, will be connected by short walks combining an interpretive tour through the forest.
An Alpine slide, mountain biking, hiking, and village to summit chairlift rides are all there to fill your days and there are nine championship golf courses within an short drive.
With all this going on at Whitefish Mountain Resort and Glacier National Park for a nearby playground, you can see why Whitefish is a very popular summer and winter vacation destination.
