Mike Doyle

Anchoring a corner of the Portes du Soleil is the village of Champéry, Switzerland. Champéry, located in the Chablais region of southwest Switzerland, sits at the base of the Dents-du-Midi massif - an impressive serration of seven main summits. Champéry, has sat at the base of the Dents-du-Midi for hundreds of years before a ski lift appeared anywhere in Europe and has retained many chalets and storefronts dating back to the 19th and early 20th century. Here's more information on Champéry, including a review of the village, what to expect as a visitor, and Champéry lodging, restaurants, and shopping.

Finding Lodging In The Alps

Mike Doyle
Each year, I save hard for my skiing trip and I wanted to find out if there are ways to cut costs that might not be so obvious to Americans planning a vacation in the Alps. One of the first and foremost ways to plan an affordable vacation is to explore the types of lodging that the average European vacationing skiers look for. Here's more information on accommodations in the Alps.

Apartment Vacation In The Alps

Mike Doyle

After lodging in hotels on several ski vacations in the European Alps, I decided that during my next trip I would look to stay in an apartment - the most popular type of alpine accommodations. I say the most popular because Europeans and British have long ago discovered alpine ski resort apartments provide, by far, the best value in ski resort lodging.
