Holding your poles in front of your body is a snow plow variation that aids in understanding the mechanics of turning. Start by holding the poles in a parallel position. Raising the poles in the opposite direction from where you want to turn will head you into the turn. Raise your left hand to turn to the right. Raise your right hand to turn to the left.
