How to Stand On Skis

Your skiing stance is how you stand on skis. That includes how you balance on your skis and how your body is aligned i.e. how your head, shoulders, and hips are aligned with your skis.

When you're a beginner skier, it's easier to keep your balance if you stand in a snow plow position with your skis pointed inward.

An optimal stance for beginning skiers is standing on your skis facing across a gently sloped hill with your knees slightly bent and your hands slightly above your thighs.
