Tignes, part of the massive ski complex known as l'Espace Killy, has a long and close association with the freeskiing and freeriding culture going back to when it hosted the first freeskiing World championship in 1986 and the freestyle skiing component events of the 1992 Olympics.
After some heavy snowfall in Tignes, France the sunshine is back and the winter X Games Tignes opened competition today and runs through Saturday, March 22.
The world's best 150 best skiers and snowboarders have been invited to compete at this massive meeting, which is now an essential date on the global freestyle competition calendar. The schedule includes a total of eight events over the three days-Men's and Women's Ski SuperPipe, Snowboard SuperPipe, Ski Slopestyle and Snowboard Slopestyle.
