If you're in Park City, Utah this week you are in for a real treat. Canyons Resort once again hosts the Sprint U.S. Snowboarding and Freeskiing Grand Prix through Friday, March 2 and even if you can't get out for the live show you can catch the action on up coming television broadcasts.
The Sprint Grand Prix has been one of the most popular events at Canyons Resort over the last two years and it is a real thrill provider with the world's top athletes in Snowboardcross and Skicross going head-to-head on an inclined, turn and jump-filled course that races to a finish line at Canyons Ski Beach.
If, when you were a kid, the shout 'last one to bottom sucks eggs' or something maybe a little more raunchy got your heart pumping as you pushed, passed and sped your way down the hill then you know a little of what to expect. Now, add the fact that all the skiers and riders will be racing to the bottom for more than $42,000 in prize money, and double up the Americans vying for the title of U.S. National Champion and you can bet the action will be hot and heavy.
In the Skicross event World Cup winner John Teller (ranked 7th in World Cup Skicross) is the U.S. favorite and also sure to be in thick of it all will be the top American woman competitor, Langely McNeal.
Preliminaries take place on February 27 and 28. The Skicross Finals begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 1. The Snowboardcross finals begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 2.
