With two large trade shows in the past month - the Outdoor Retailer (OR) show in Salt Lake City and the SnowSports Industries America (SIA) show in Denver - there was obviously a lot of new skis and gear making their debut from different manufacturers. What seems to be the stand out new product is a ski from Rossignol dubbed the Soul 7.
If you remember, a few years ago Rossignol had a huge hit with the Super 7 big mountain ski but the hype on the Soul 7 seems to be surpassing even that. Gear Institute gave the Soul 7 "Best in Show" at the 2013 Outdoor Retailer , then the ski garnished an ISPO Award 2013, and at the SIA show the Soul 7 claimed the Outside Magazine "Gear of the Show" and SKI Magazine's "Show Stopper" - now that's not manufacturer's hype.
What it seems we'll be finding in the Soul 7 is a patented "Air Tip" technology and a lighter core to reduce weight by 20 percent and coming in at 136/106/126 it's desined to offer more flotation and easier steering. Lengths said to be 162, 174, 180, and 188-centimeter so everybody will be happy all over the mountain.
Be sure to check out the Soul 7 if you see it at a Demo Day and I know there's a lot of other new and exciting skis and gear coming out and I'll pass on the info meanwhile - here's the Gear Institute 2013 OR show 'Best In Show' awards.
