At the FIS World Cup aerials opener in Changchun, China, the U.S. took a pair of fifth place finishes with Emily Cook (Belmont, MA) and Dylan Ferguson (Amesbury, MA) putting up a strong fight against fierce international competition.

Both Cook and Ferguson had World Cup podiums last season. The 2012 Rookie of the Year Jonathon Lillis (Rochester, NY) scored a personal best World Cup finish placing seventh. Mengtao Xu and  Zongyanj Jia, both of China, took the wins.

The next stop for the aerials squad is Val Saint-Come, QC on Jan. 12. The aerialists will then meet up with the moguls team for the first domestic event of the season at the USANA Freestyle Cup in Lake Placid Jan 17-19. Then Jan. 31 - Feb. 2 the competition will be in Park City, UT at Deer Valley for aerials and moguls and half-pipe action at Park City Mountain Resort.
