Family Ski Resorts

Park CityAre you thinking about a family ski vacation?   When you're planning, it's important to select a ski resort that is geared towards families and children.

Not all ski resorts are suitable for beginner skiers, though most areas roll out the welcome mat for new skiers.  There are some resorts where the terrain and services are geared towards advanced skiers, which is actually good for beginners, because it keeps the fast-moving, high-flying experts from scaring first-timers.

Look for a family ski resort that caters to beginners, and  has either on site activities to keep the family entertained or is close to a town with lots to do after skiing.

Park City is a great destination for family skiing.  This historic mining town has all the ski adventures, activities, eateries, and everyday necessities that make for a great family ski vacation.

Lake Tahoe is another wonderful family ski destination, both for skiers and for those who are interested in off-mountain activities.  When you stay in South Lake Tahoe for your family ski vacation, you are within an easy walk to the world class skiing at Heavenly and an easy ride to seven great ski resorts in the Lake Tahoe region.

Did you have a great family ski vacation? What did you like best about the vacation and the ski resort? Do you have tips for other skiers planning a family ski vacation?  Share your family ski vacation story and read about other family ski vacations.

Thanks for including Park City as a top family ski resort Mike! Another great reason why Park City is a great family resort is it’s accessibility! Located only 30 minutes from the Salt Lake City International Airport, you can easily hop on one of the 100s of non-stop direct flights from across the country, and be on the slopes by noon!

We’ll see you this winter!

You’re right on about both these destinations Mike! As an easterner, I’ve had the pleasure of two separate weeks of skiing/staying in Park City (both over 10 years ago and hope to get back soon), and the entire experience was terrific! Park City, The Canyons, Alta, Snowbird and Deer Valley were the areas we hit.
And three years ago we took a “boys” family trip to South Lake Tahoe. With the casino a short walk from where we stayed at the bottom of Heavenly, it kept us awake so it turned into a ski/ride hard and play hard type of week. We hit Heavenly for a couple of days, Squaw Valley and Kirkwood! Love the east, but anxious to get out west on my board again!
