Plan Your 2012-13 Family Ski Vacation Now

By December 4, 2012

With snowflakes flying and a lot of snowmaking going on, this is the time of year to start making plans for that family ski vacation. Whether it's a destination ski resort you're looking to travel to or maybe somewhere close to home, it's always fun to get away for a few days and enjoy winter on the slopes.

Every summer most ski resorts, large and small, implement some improvements to make your next winter visit a little more convenient and enjoyable. These improvements can come in all shapes and sizes. Some will be obvious and some you'll hardly notice.

New lodges, more trails and/or upgrades to the facilities are pretty obvious, but other investments you don't readily see can have a big impact on skiing and riding, such as new groomers or new snowmaking guns and piping. You can be pretty sure your favorite area or the one where you plan to vacation at will have something new and shiny.

Here is some of what's new at a bunch of ski areas around the country. Of course, this list doesn't cover every ski area or resort, but gives an overview of what's new in New Hampshire, Vermont, Utah and Lake Tahoe.

While you're planning your family ski vacation, be sure to check out these 2012-2013 Ski Deals and Discounts from resorts around the country.
