According to The Detroit News, the IRS filed a tax lien of $1,705,437 against World Champion Alpine skier Lindsey Vonn and her estranged husband, Thomas Vonn, with the Elko County recorder in Nevada on April 2.
Vonn immediately released a statement on Facebook regretting the oversight and that she would make good with the government post haste. "I just recently became aware of the outstanding balance and I have done everything in my power to settle it immediately," said Vonn. "The money owed was for the 2010 tax year, which was filed on time, and it has been paid in full. This is an important lesson for me."
Vonn made over $600,000 from race winnings but received much more in endorsements. Look for a quick and equitable resolution to this glitch as the best female skier in the world works to smooth the bumps in her personal life and emerge a better person and a more focused athlete.
