Warren Miller's Like There's No Tomorrow has kicked off its world tour and I highly recommend you see it when comes to a venue near you.
I attended the premier showing of Like There's No Tomorrow which was held in Salt Lake City - the destination travel hub for all points to the Greatest Snow On Earth. Many of the athletes starring in the film attended the event, sitting unpretentiously through a press conference and afterward hanging out talking and autographing posters.
Quite a few of the skiers and riders are either home grown, or transplanted Utahns, so as you can imagine, there was quite a cheering section in the audience. Of course, it goes without saying that, each autumn, every new Warren Miller production brings out a tribe that only needs to see the first blower powder face shots on the big screen to set the joint rocking.
Like There's No Tomorrow puts you up close and personal for big mountain carving, urban tricks and remote cliff hucks and pillow drops. The film carries on the Warren Miller traditional style of mixing a little comedy, cheerful bantering and a lot of awesome skiing.
Jonny Moseley, Olympic medalist and a Warren Miller veteran does a great narration, no boring script reading or extra loud intonations - it's is just like he's talking with you telling the story.
The movie covers a cast of some well known and some up and coming skiers, a few riders and even an intrepid Yeti doing their thing on mountains around world. From the Greatest Snow On Earth to Squaw Valley to New Hampshire's Tuckerman's Ravine. From Chile, to British Columbia, Alaska, Norway and India. That's right India, where there's big mountain heliskiing and some culturally different ski area footage.
Like There's No Tomorrow is a sharply filmed, crispy and crystal clear state of the arts production that brings to the big screen the unrestrained passion of free skiing. If you're still stuck in a summer mode guaranteed Like There's No Tomorrow will jump start your winter. Check out the tour schedule and mark your calendar - if you don't see a venue near you bug your local ski shop to promote a showing.
