Victorian architecture distinguishes the former mining town of Telluride, Colorado,  located in Southwestern Colorado in the beautiful San Juan Mountains, while European alpine elegance surrounds the Mountain Village core.

Summer activities at Telluride  include golfing, hiking, soaring through the sky in a glider and more. There's really something for everyone including the The Sunset Concert Series - a free open air concert series every Wednesday evening throughout the summer.

The Telluride Jazz Celebration,  is enjoying the 35th Anniversary year of bringing world-class jazz to the town of Telluride. A not-to-be-missed musical event, Telluride Jazz Celebration has earned national and international favor for featuring the best in classic, mainstream, blues, Brazilian, African and Latin jazz music.

Performances are staged outdoors in the daytime and in intimate clubs and historic concert halls at night. Telluride Jazz is in fact, a "Celebration" of the art, soul, history, and future of Jazz.

Here's more on summer vacations at Telluride.

Telluride is amazing in the summer and, to many people’s surprise, actually draws more visitors than it does in the winter.

What makes Telluride special all year round is simply this: It’s a genuine town (not a prefabbed “base area”) that’s boxed in on all sides by the most beautiful Rocky Mountain wilderness you can imagine. This means that most of the hotels in the historic old town are all at once within walking distance of world-class restaurants, the ski area, and endless hiking and biking trails.

Definitely stay in the historic old town, which is also where the festival venue is (in town park). My brother works at the two best hotels in town, the Ice House and Camel’s Garden. (Obviously my biased opinion, but one that is shared by many, many people).

Both have beautiful rooms. The Ice House is a bit less expensive. The Camel’s Garden has a few more amenities and definitely has the edge over every other hotel in town during the winter because it is right on two main lifts – Oak Street and the Gondola.
