Springtime at ski resorts across North America brings warmer weather and with it all kinds of diverse and interesting events and activities. Of course, you have the iconic pond skimming - a well established rite of passage at many resorts.
Then you get the signature events that are particular to a resort. One of these is the Queens Cup Open (QCO) hosted by Park City Mountain Resort and goes for 3 days starting this Friday 3/25 and running through Sunday.
The Queens Cup Open is female only events where amateur athletes get the opportunity to ride with the top athletes in the industry and to inspire a new generation of female riders.
This year's competition includes not only halfpipe and slopestyle but kicks off with a first ever Pro-Throw Down Rail Jam Friday night where top females skiers and snowboarders will showcase their skills. With a $500 winner takes all cash purse in each division, female skiers and snowboarders will need to do more than just have a spring fling.
Entry is $10 and all proceeds will be donated to the High Fives Foundation which goes to improve the lives of athletes that suffer a life altering injury while pursuing their dream in the winter action sports community.
The slopestyle contest will run on Saturday, March 26 and the halfpipe contest goes on Sunday, March 27.
