This weekend, the best freestyle skiers in the world will be doing their thing at two venues in the Northeast. The FIS Nature Valley World Cup returns to Lake Placid, NY and Whiteface Mountain Friday through Sunday and Killington Resort, VT will host the second stop of the 2010-11 Winter Dew Tour season, Thursday through Sunday.
The Lake Placid event is the only World Cup in the United States and will also serve as a qualifier for the U.S. Ski Team's world championship squad, leading up to the FIS Freestyle World Championships at Deer Valley, Utah. More than 140 athletes from 19 countries are expected to compete in the three-day Lake Placid/Whiteface event.
Over at Killington Resort, 140 of the best freeski and snowboard athletes will compete on the second stop of the 2010-11 Winter Dew Tour season. Welcoming the Tour for the first time, Killington Resort will host the four-day event that features competitions with the top winter action sports athletes in freeskiing (slopestyle and superpipe) and snowboarding (slopestyle and superpipe).
The three-stop Tour will conclude with the Toyota Championships at Snowbasin Resort in Ogden, Utah February 10-13, 2011.
