After a weekend of skiing around a rather balmy Lake Tahoe, I found myself in New York skiing at Whiteface in the Adirondacks. In the morning the Adirondack express wind was howling out of the northwest and it actually felt good having Old Man Winter push me around when it's really still fall.
Cold weather at Whiteface means their excellent snowmaking system was going full blast around the clock making for great skiing. The consistency and texture of the snow feels very much like the natural even before grooming and stretching it out.
Whiteface/Lake Placid is on schedule to host the only FIS Freestyle World Cup stop in the U.S. prior to the FIS Freestyle World Championships at Deer Valley, in Park City, Utah.
The Aerials and Mogul events will be January 21-23 and if you can, you should make it a long weekend and catch these amazing athletes.
