Ted Ligety threw down a powerful second run today to take the FIS Audi World Cup Giant Slalom at Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. Trailing by .01 second after the first run Ligety came on to win by .34 seconds.
This was Ligety's third straight GS win on the Kranjska Gora course and puts him in the World Cup Giant Slalom point lead with another GS on tap tomorrow before going into the two week break leading up to the Olympic Games. U.S. Olympic Ski Team members Tommy Ford and Tim Jitloff finished 21st and 28th respectively.
Ted Ligety and Tommy Ford are also featured in Truth In Motion: The US Ski Team's Road to Vancover, a documentary which tells the unique stories of these elite American athletes as they prepare for the competition of their lives - the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. The film airs tomorrow - Saturday, January 30th at 8pm EST on NBC.
