Summer Ski Resort Activities

Thursday June 4, 2009
When you are looking for things to do and places to hike or mountain bike don’t forget your favorite ski resort. Many resorts offer four season activities and the support we give our local and favorite destination resorts in the off-season can only help the area expand and improve winter facilities. Here are some featured resorts and a little of what’s happening on the mountains:

Northeast

  • Okemo Mountain Resort, VT - Every Friday evening, the Jackson Gore Summer Music Series concerts are held in the Jackson Gore Inn Courtyard and are free to the public. Bring a Frisbee, bring the family, and enjoy dinner and drinks from the outdoor BBQ. Rainy days will take the concerts inside to the Round House or Ice House at Jackson Gore, so come out rain or shine!
  • Sugarloaf/USA, ME - Guided Adventures are a great way to explore all that the area has to offer with Master Maine Guide Bonnie Holding. Enjoy a sunrise canoe trip and spot wildlife in its natural environment, learn to fly fish in Maine's acclaimed streams and rivers, or relax with a wilderness cookout high in the mountains.

Mid-Atlantic

  • Bryce Resort, VA - Bryce Resort offers summer grass skiing with lessons available. There is also mountain tubing, water sports at the 45 acre Lake Laura, horseback riding, and golf.
  • The Homestead, VA - The Homestead offers a variety of resort activities for all family members, including falconry lessons, Orvis fly-fishing day, guided mountain biking and hiking tours and Target/Skeet Shooting.

Midwest

  • Cascade Mountain, WI - Weddings, receptions, reunions, anniversary parties, and even dances are on the schedule. Cascade Mountain has space to host up to 300 people.
  • Crystal Mountain, MI - Water fun for all ages, championship golf, climbing wall and Mountain Adventure Zone for on-site and off-site adventures. Banquets, weddings, and family reunions with ample room to house everyone are available.

Rockies

Far West
  • Arizona Snowbowl, AZ - The Arizona Snowbowl, a few hours from Phoenix, is a great place to escape the summer heat. Activities include Disc Golf, scenic Skyrides and hiking in the Coconino National Forest - all this and only 70 miles from the Grand Canyon.
  • Sun Valley, ID - Golf, tennis, hiking and mountain biking, swimming, a fitness center, and many more activities and adventures are available for the whole family including Ice Shows featuring international stars!
