Park City, Utah - A Great Family Ski Vacation Destination

Follow me on:

Park CityI'm here in Park City, Utah taking a closer look at what a great family ski vacation hub this little town really is. It took only about 40 minutes to get here from Salt Lake City Airport and the actual time spent in the plane was 5 and 1/2 hours. In early December I drove to Maine for some great skiing and it took 7 hours!

So, here in Park City, I'm based in the Marriott MountainSide where my front porch is Park City Mountain Resort - a world class ski resort and former host to several Olympic venues. A little more than a snowball throw away is The Canyons and Deer Valley both also sites of events during the Salt Lake City Olympics.

This little town has all the ski adventures, activities, eateries, and everyday necessities that makes a great family ski vacation. The bus service goes everywhere and all levels of skiers and non-skiers alike can spend many happy days, nights, or months here without ever starting a car. If you take a shuttle from the airport you won't need a car at all.

Arriving last night, I walked to a full service grocery store, drug store, made a stop at Starbucks, and was nestled back at the Marriot MountainSide within an hour. I couldn't do that at home.

This morning, I am heading out the front door a few steps and up the new Park City Mountain Resort Crescent high-speed quad to freshen my memory in a little fresh Wasatch Mountain snow.

What are the conditions. It shows rain. I am hoping that is only in town and the mountain is getting snow.

Interested in any restaurant recommendations.

Thanks.

Conditions in Park City are actually really good. According to OnTheSnow.com all the trails are open and they have a 74in packed powder base.

Thanks for the post! Where you stay on your vacation can make or break the entire trip. Park City and Brighton are my favorite places to stay in Utah.
