Buy a Ski Helmet That Fits - Online

helmetIt can be hard to find a ski helmet that fits perfectly and sellers rarely take back a helmet once you buy it. This has kept me from buying a helmet online - until I came across the Uvex Helmet Sizing Tool.

The Uvex web site provides a helmet sizer that you can print out and use to measure your head to the nearest centimeter. This will guarantee a comfortable fit with even pressure around the head, even when you buy a helmet online.

Using the ski helmet sizer, I measured a little over 59cm, and for the Uvex X-Ride Motion helmet, which comes in six shell sizes, my measurement corresponded to a size Large. I ordered this helmet and got a very comfortable, non-spinning, non-slipping fit.

Ski helmets can save you from serious injury and the best protection comes from a good fitting helmet. The Uvex helmet sizer takes the worry out of ordering online and now that's one less excuse not to wear a helmet when you're skiing. I started wearing a helmet when my daughter was little - figuring that I better practice what I preached.

I printed out and assembled the UVEX helmet sizing tool per the instructions (i.e. overlap #1 tabs, overlap #2 tabs) but the resulting tape was inaccurate in length. The distance from the end to the 15″ mark is only 14 1/8″ and the spacing between each inch marker is only 15/16″. Are these special UVEX units & not inches?

Be sure that you’re printing the PDF at 100% or it may shrink the dimensions. I tried several times printing at 100% and it was accurate for inches and centimeters.
