Ski Boot Fitting
Each year, ski boot manufacturers make their boots a little more form fitting and personable, with heat moldable liners and special flexing materials, and now, with more rigid generic footbeds. However, keep in mind that they are still producing ski boots for the "average" foot, and the more I have become acquainted with the art of ski boot fitting, the more I've come to realize that every foot is unique.
When purchasing new boots go to a professional, experienced bootfitter. He, or she, can tell you if the boot that you think feels so good is really the boot that will help you ski better. To ensure you are going to find a master bootfitter to guide you through the boot buying process, I recommend you either look for a ski shop affiliated with America's Best Bootfitters or search out the nearest SureFoot establishment.
The America's Best Bootfitter (ABB) designation guarantees that a particular ski shop employs a supervising boot fitter with a minimum of ten years experience, while Surefoot is the world’s biggest and best ski boot specialty store. Surefoot stores worldwide locations have a handpicked and personally trained corps of boot fitting specialists.
Seriously, do your feet and your skiing a favor and get your ski boots fitted by a pro.
