Snowshoe Mountain - Skiing on 63" of Natural Snow

Thursday November 27, 2008
Snowshoe Mountain Resort is celebrating 35 years this season and Mother Nature has blessed the West Virginia mountain with a birthday present of 50" of snow in just the last 15 days.

Add this November snow to the 9.5" from an October dump and cold temps ideal for snowmaking and you can see why Snowshoe is off to one of it's best starts ever. In fact, opening day was Friday, November 21, five days ahead of schedule.

Thanksgiving Day will serve up at least 17 trails with 4 lifts running. Snowmaking has actually been going nearly around the clock since November 15 and Snowshoe's expert snowmaking team has begun making snow on Cupp Run, Snowshoe's signature slope in its West Territory. This is one of the earliest starts ever for snowmaking in the Western Territory and Cupp Run could be open by Dec. 5th.

Remember now, Snowshoe Mountain Resort is in Pocahontas County, West Virginia, in the southern portion of the pristine Allegheny Mountains. So if you are high and dry, or wet and rainy, this Thanksgiving Day check out the Snowshoe Mountain video gallery.
