Lindsey Vonn Returns to Training

Tuesday November 25, 2008
World Cup overall champion Lindsey Vonn was back on snow Monday for the first time since bruising her left knee in a super G training crash on November 19. She was cleared to return to race training Tuesday. If her recovery continues to be positive, the World Cup leader may be cleared to compete this weekend at the annual Aspen Winternational taking place Saturday and Sunday in Aspen, CO.

Earlier this month, Vonn won the opening World Cup slalom in Levi, Finland to set another first as the only American women to have won in four separate World Cup disciplines. She needs only a giant slalom victory to complete the collection.

The Aspen Winternational opens Saturday with a giant slalom, followed by a slalom on Sunday. It will be the fifth consecutive year that Aspen has hosted a World Cup and is the only American World Cup stop on the Audi FIS Alpine World Cup tour this season.

NBC, the Olympic network, will air coverage of the giant slalom at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. Daily coverage is also available free on UniversalSports.com, with Saturday's giant slalom airing after NBC's coverage, and Sunday's slalom streaming live at noon ET.

Versus will broadcast the giant slalom on Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. ET with the Rauch slalom to follow at 4 p.m. ET.
