FitSkiing.com - Online Skiing Fitness

Friday October 3, 2008
It's October and far as the Farmer's Almanac and good snowmaking are concerned some of us will be skiing this month. However, there is still time to get the skiing muscles and tendons tuned up for your personal opening day. FitSkiing.com is the companion web site to the excellent skiing fitness book FitSking - Your Guide For Peak Skiing by Andrew Hooge.

Why is this the best skiing fitness web site I've found?

  • It is progressive depending on your fitness level and time you can put into it
  • The program is designed to work ski specific aerobic and anaerobic exercises
  • It works to improve the 3 most important ingredients of skiing - Balance, Flexibility and Endurance
  • You can pick from exercises to do at home or at a gym

The web site has a library of ski-specific video exercises, 30 minute workouts, exercise tips and articles. Coach Hooge features a member based online fitness program, "MySkiCoach" where you can plug information and get a program designed to your specifications and fitness level that concentrates on training muscles we use for skiing. This personalized ski-specific program is interactive and gives you access to the Coach's private message board and more based on membership level.

Here's a good deal - right now the "MySkiCoach" program is in Beta testing so access to the Basic Program is free. Go to MySkiCoach sign up and at the invitation code type: beta_prime. Coach Hooge is also giving this invitation code to everybody through his free e-mail weekly "Black Diamond News."

If you are serious about getting physically ready for ski season I recommend you check out FitSkiing.com and the book FitSking - Your Guide For Peak Skiing. I will be posting a new ski-specific exercise by Coach Hooge each week on this page.
