Ski Resort Happenings and Events

Friday May 30, 2008
When you are looking for things to do and places to hike or mountain bike don’t forget your favorite ski resort. Many resorts offer four season activities and the support we give our local and favorite resorts in the off-season can only help the area expand and improve winter facilities. Here are this week’s featured resorts and a little of what’s happening on the mountains:

Northeast

  • Okemo Mountain Resort, VT - Every Friday evening, starting May 30th, the Jackson Gore Summer Music Series concerts are held in the Jackson Gore Inn Courtyard and are free to the public. Bring a Frisbee, bring the family, and enjoy dinner and drinks from the outdoor BBQ. Rain Site - Jackson Gore Ice House.
  • Sugarloaf/USA, ME - Guided Adventures explore all that the area has to offer with Master Maine Guide Bonnie Holding. Enjoy a sunrise canoe trip and spot wildlife in its natural environment, learn to fly fish in Maine's acclaimed streams and rivers, or relax with a wilderness cookout high in the mountains.

Mid-Atlantic

  • Bryce Resort, VA - Bryce Resort offers summer grass skiing with lessons available. There is also mountain tubing, water sports at the 45 acre Lake Laura, horseback riding, and golf.
  • The Homestead, VA - The Homestead offers a variety of resort packages for all family members, including an outdoor adventure package, Orvis Fly-fishing day, and Target/Skeet Shooting.

Midwest

Rockies

  • Snow King, WY - In the summer Snow King guests can enjoy an Alpine Slide, a scenic chair lift ride up Snow King mountain, horseback riding, white water rafting on the Snake River, a hot air balloon above the Grand Teton Mountain Range, and many other outdoor activities.

Range to the south, and the Mosquito Mt. Range to the north. All types of outdoor recreation and activities can be enjoyed year-round in the area.
Far West
  • Squaw Valley, CA - Summer activities at Squaw Valley include mountain top ice skating, the Swimming Lagoon and Spa, hiking, concerts, golf, dining, and much more! Don’t miss Squaw Valley's world renowned cable car - 2000' vertical feet to the High Camp Bath and Tennis Club.
