Aspen in the Morning

Sunday February 10, 2008
There's a real good possibility that a storm currently circling around the East, and dropping snow here and there, might just stick around until it gets colder and then put down some serious snow this week. At least, that's what I'm hoping for, but right now this is down time and I don't feel like tuning skis.

So, I thought I'd just hang out until the little flakes turn to big flakes and just do a little daydreaming. I really believe that every skier, no matter if they first started skiing as a little kid, or as a big kid, goes through a period of "skier wanderlust." This is that time in a skier's life, usually before we take work seriously - notice I tie no specific age to when skiers take work seriously - when we dream of living in a ski town.

I'd bet that in many of those dreams, at one time or another, a lot of wanderers see themselves scraping together the money for a P.O. Box - in Aspen. "Oh please let me get one letter addressed to: ME, P.O Box anynumber, Aspen, CO. I won't even open it - unless it's a check - thanks Dad... When you get in town just look for me in the phone book, Dude!"

Of course there are other ski towns I dream about. But, when I was a kid, Aspen was where I wanted to be.

You see a lot of commercial pictures of Aspen at night, all lit up and very pretty. In my photos, take a walk around Aspen with me early on a bluebird morning, before the lifts open, then close your eyes and make that big wish, again.
