Ski Club of the Week: The North Island Snowdrifters Ski Club

North Island SnowdriftersI'm in the South Lake Tahoe area this week, so here's a big shout out to The North Island Snowdrifters Ski Club located in San Diego, CA. The Snowdrifters Club was founded in 1977, is part of the Far West Ski Council, and currently has approximately 350 - 400 members.

The largest ski club in San Diego County, the Snowdrifters typically offers a choice of 7 - 8 weekend bus trips to Mammoth Mountain each winter. There are usually a couple of fly-away vacation trips to such skiing Meccas as Colorado, Canada, and Europe.

A “club for all seasons” the Snowdrifters also have an endless array of activities and parties. From a Halloween bash to attending the Christmas Boat Parade and a New Year’s Eve Party, the club seems to always have something on the calander.

Off-season get-togethers include San Diego Padres games, casino nights, family picnics, an annual Day at the Races at Del Mar, houseboat trips, bicycling excursions, wine-tasting events, and much more.

Membership is open to everyone and a monthly newsletter, both web based and snail-mail, keeps club members informed of all that’s happening. The Snowdrifters are "the epitome of what all clubs should be – a circle of good friends who just happen to ski."
