Hundreds of Vancouver schoolchildren were the first to personally meet the mascots for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Miga, Quatchi and Sumi, are the names of the three critters who will meet and greet athletes, visitors, and fans at Games.
According to a Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) Press Release each of the creatures is distinct and special – one is a sasquatch, one is a sea-bear and one is an animal guardian spirit. All are mythical creatures based in Canadian folklore and represent the people, geography, and spirit of British Columbia and Canada.
Visit the Vancouver 2010 Olympics web site and meet the critters.
