Gunstock, NH Opening Day - Number 70

That's right, Gunstock Mountain Resort, in Gilford, NH, is set to open on Friday, December 7, to start its 70th season. The closest major ski area to Boston, Gunstock offers 51 trails on 220 acres and some great views of Lake Winnipesaukee. No doubt, Gunstock has come a long way in 70 years with a 4 chute Tubing hill and a terrain park full of jumps, rails, kickers, and other things they never dreamed of back then.

But, even back then Gunstock was on the cutting edge of the ski industry when it installed the first chairlift in the east. Through the years Gunstock has taken ski racing very serious and runs both the NASTAR program and a local Corporate Race Program. Competition is encouraged for racers of all ages, with Masters and Kids race training under the guidance of certified race instructors.

Gunstock Mountain Resort is a four season recreation area that sponsors activities and events year round. This years' events will focus on celebrating the 70th Anniversary and the big 70th Anniversary Weekend is January 11 - 13. Gunstock makes it easy to book a room for the events, or check conditions and pricing by offering all resort services online. This also saves paper and trees.

Gunstock also took a big step this year to counter the carbon emissions of its visitors' cars by giving away 1500 free treelings - each of which will will absorb 5 pounds of CO2 per day.
