Pre-Season Ski Tune Up

Friday October 19, 2007
You may have been working hard getting yourself in shape for ski season, but don’t forget to have your skis tuned and your bindings checked before that first day on the snow. Not only does everybody get a good laugh at the expense of the person dragging rust tracks all the way to the lift line, but it can make for some tough skiing. All of sudden, those rocks you ran over during your last run in the spring will come back to haunt you.

To put your mind at ease, it is well worth the trip to your favorite ski shop to let the pros tune up your bases. With this in mind, I set up an appointment with Cathy and Jack Hay of the Alpine Sport Shop in Saratoga Springs, New York. Founded in 1941, the Alpine Sport Shop has a long and venerable history throughout the Northeast as a fully stocked ski and ski apparel shop. It also has a reputation as a trusted professional ski service center and is a great place for a pre-season tune up for skis and bindings. Dan Nizolek, Alpine’s head Service Technician took me through the process of a thorough pre-season ski tune up.
