Skiing Alta and Snowbird on the Same Day?

Trying to take in Alta and Snowbird, for the first time, and on the same day, sounds like a stretch. Katie and I skied a lot of terrain at each area and oohed and ahhed at a lot more terrain we didn’t ski – and probably won’t ever ski. As I said the other day, when I see ski tracks on snow where I would think no man (or woman) could have gone before, I tip my helmet.
At Alta, the sun was barely over the surrounding peaks when we were queued up at the Collins lift with Alta passholder and volunteer guide for the day, Gary Marcoccia. Gary took Katie and I on a whole mountain tour, and believe me there is skiing and terrain here for every ability and majestic scenery for everybody. Here's how we spent our morning skiing Alta.

Then, we moved on to Snowbird. If I were a mountain I’d want Dick Bass to be my daddy. There is no question Snowbird is pampered and taken care of by someone who loves her. Katie and I found that feeling of hospitality with open arms friendliness all over the area. We spent the afternoon skiing and stayed until the lifts closed. I’ll tell you about Snowbird later (and The Canyons, where we're skiing today).

Mike, It was a great day in the Wasatch mountains for you guys! I was glad to spend the morning with ya skiing it up at Alta. I hope your experience in Utah was a good one. When you come out again look me up through the AltaCam Ski Forum and let’s make some turns. We’ll have to get a famous Goldminer’s Daughter pizza next time
