Meeting Stein Eriksen
During the holiday season, I wrote about how my brother surprised with a poster of my first skiing hero – Stein Eriksen. That "Stein at Snowmass at Aspen" poster had traveled with me for several years, holding center stage at various apartments and ski-house rooms across the country. It returned to me, ironed flat, matted, and looking almost like new.
Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Stein Eriksen at Deer Valley Resort in Utah. He was in the gondola behind me, and fortunately, I was able to meet up with him. Stein took the time to chat and shake hands with me and other skiers, too. Despite his celebrity status, Stein was kind and hospitable to all of us. It was an honor to meet my first skiing hero and I hope he enjoyed skiing Deer Valley today as much as I did.

Stein was my first skiing hero as well. Growing up in the mid-west, all we had to ski on was little ice covered bumps on the prairie. None the less, we all wanted to look like Stein I’m glad you had the pleasure to meet him in person.
