First WC Races of 07 Cancelled Due to Weather
Thursday October 26, 2006
Rain, and a weather forecast of unseasonably warm temperatures, forced organizers to cancel the season-opening World Cup alpine races that were scheduled for this weekend in Soelden, Austria. I hope this is only a freak of nature and not a harbinger of things to come this ski competition season.
The women were to have raced giant slalom on Saturday and the men on Sunday. The next scheduled races are slaloms Nov. 11 -12 in Levi, Finland, before the World Cup heads to North America. For the complete schedule of World Cup Alpine and Nordic races visit the FIS home page.
