Jarem’s Story
When I read about men and women who have endured the loss of limbs or paralysis and still take on the challenges and thrills of winter sports, I wonder if I would have that same resiliency. The athletes in the Paralympics represent the epitome of courage to me. They mentally overcome their physical disability and physically overcome sporting challenges that athletes with disabilities of only a generation ago could only dream about.
Needless to say, scientific and medical advances have given many parathletes the tools to go forward, but not many disabled athletes have made their tools. One who has, is Jarem Frye who developed a specialized prosthetic leg which allowed him to become the first AK amputee Telemark skier in the world. Jarem’s personal story of courage and determination is on Crimpermag.com.
Jarem founded Symbiotechs USA, a company dedicated to revolutionizing the world of prosthetics. Thanks to Jarem and Symbiotechs USA research, above knee amputees have a prosthetic available allowing them to ski with two skis and regular poles, providing a new freedom on the slopes and a freedom off the slopes to walk without crutches. Be sure to refer anyone you know who might be helped by Jarem’s company to the web site for the latest technical advances available.

A very informative article! I had no idea that a prosthetic device such as this existed until now. I thought skiing was pretty much out of the question until I saw the special knee on the symbiotechsusa website. A very motivating survivor story too…
