Bloom Makes the Cut and Bode Takes a Swing
Wednesday July 12, 2006
Remember Jeremy Bloom, former U.S. Olympic moguls skier, who was ruled ineligible to play football at University of Colorado and threw his hat in the ring for the pro football draft? He was a fifth round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles. His contract will be a four-year, $1.782 million deal, that includes a $172,000 signing bonus, and a minimum base salary for all four seasons. Not bad for the 147th player chosen in the draft. Apparently, Jeremy proved his speed and good hands will be an asset to the Eagles special teams.
Bode Miller, former World Cup Champion and U.S. Olympian, has signed a one-game contract to play for the minor league Nashua Pride baseball team. Bode, himself a native of New Hampshire will play with the Nashua, New Hampshire based team on July 29, with $5,000 of ticket sales going to Miller’s charity the Turtle Ridge Foundation.
