Aspen Awarded Golden Eagle Award, Gore Gets a Silver Eagle

Aspen Skiing Company in Colorado has been awarded the 2006 Golden Eagle Award for Overall Environmental Excellence by a ski resort. New York's Gore Mountain was awarded a Silver Eagle Award for Visual Impact. Winners of the 2006 Golden Eagle Awards for Environmental Excellence were announced at the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) National Convention and Tradeshow held at the Marco Island Marriott Resort in Marco Island, Florida.

Other Silver Eagle awards include:

  • Silver Eagle, Water Conservation: Sunshine Village Ski Area Canada
  • Silver Eagle, Energy Conservation/Clean Energy: Buck Hill, Minnesota
  • Silver Eagle, Fish & Wildlife Habitat Protection: Telluride Ski Resort, Colorado
  • Silver Eagle, Environmental Education: Sierra-at-Tahoe, California Sierra-at-Tahoe
  • Silver Eagle, Stakeholder Relations: Mt. Hood Meadows, Oregon
  • Silver Eagle, Waste Reduction & Recycling: Whistler/Blackcomb, BC Canada

    Stowe, Vermont and Whistler/Blackcomb, Canada were runners up for the Overall Environmental Excellence.
