Spring Skiing and Then Some
Sunday April 9, 2006
When I was bemoaning the lack of snow in the Northeast the other day, I mentioned that Snowbird Resort was going to be open through Memorial Day weekend. Mammoth Mountain, due to a record snowfall, 52 feet of snow since October, is going one better and staying open until Fourth of July. If you buy your 2006/2007 season pass now, you'll be able to use it starting May 1 and will get the rest of this season as a bonus.
On a related note, Mammoth Moutain has established a memorial fund for the three ski patrollers who died tragically last week, after falling into a volcanic gas vent on the peak while attempting to rope off an unsafe area.
