Tips for Mogul Skiing

Thursday March 30, 2006
The two day mogul camp I recently participated in at Killington Ski Resort in Vermont is not a one-of-a-kind event. Many resorts offer the same concentrated instruction in mogul skiing. Some resorts package mogul skiing into extended all-mountain clinics that could run over five or six days.

If you avoid skiing in moguls you are really missing a fun experience. Lessons and time in the bumps can make any intermediate skier reach a level of comfort in most mogul runs. Don’t use the excuse that you have to save your knees (used to be one of my lines), because with instruction you can ski efficiently and without jarring over the bumps.

Read some of the mogul skiing tips I learned at camp. Try them in the bumps this spring when the moguls are a little softer and a little more forgiving. Let me know if they help.
