Julia Mancuso Wins Gold!

Friday February 24, 2006
American skier Julia Mancuso won the Gold medal in the Giant Slalom. She became just the second Alpine skier to win a medal for the United States in the Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. The first medal earned was a gold by Ted Ligety in the combined event.

This was first Olympic Alpine medal for the U.S. Women's Ski Team since Picabo Street's gold in the super-G at the 1998 Nagano (Japan) Winter Games.
